Starting school is a significant event in the lives of children and their families, and we are committed to making this transition as smooth and positive as possible. Our supportive and welcoming community provides a nurturing environment where children can begin their learning journey with confidence and enthusiasm.
Our Kindergarten Transition and Orientation Program is thoughtfully designed to support both families and students as they move from preschool to primary school.
Orientation days
Orientation Days provide an important opportunity for your child to experience a snapshot of school life at Putney Public School. These sessions, held on Wednesday, 5 November and Wednesday, 12 November from 9:30am to 11:00am, are for enroled Kindergarten students only. Children attend both sessions, with caregivers dropping off and collecting them at the designated times. During orientation, children will meet some of our teachers, participate in fun and engaging activities, and begin to make new friends with their peers.
Parent information evening
We invite parents of enroled students to attend a Parent Information Evening on Monday, 10 November from 5:30pm to 6:30pm onsite at the school.
Family intake interviews
Family Intake Interviews will be held on Monday, 17 November, Tuesday, 18 November, and Friday, 21 November. These 15-minute interviews with our Principal, Mrs Brooks, and an Assistant Principal provide a valuable opportunity to share insights about your child and family. Interview times run every 15 minutes from 9:15am to 11:15am and again from 11:30am to 1:30pm. To book, please contact the school office at putney-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au with your top three time preferences; the office will then confirm your appointment.
Welcome pack
To help families prepare for the start of school, all enroled families will receive a Welcome Pack in Term 4. This pack contains essential information to ensure a smooth and successful beginning to your child’s schooling journey.
